Toronto Blue Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi signs former Baltimore Orioles standout B.J. Ryan to the richest contract ever for a reliever in a 5-year, $47 million deal. Ryan would put up one of the greatest seasons in Blue Jay's history, posting 38 saves, 1.37 ERA and a .857 WHIP. Over the next 3 seasons Ryan would total only 37 saves due to injury and retire after 2009 season.
