In a desperate search for a cure to his terminal lung disease, former Chicago outfielder Dibby Flynn decides at the last moment not to board the train to Arizona and a potential cure.  He has decided he wants to die amoungst friends. He dies 10 minutes later from hemorrhaging in his lungs.
