He retires Kiki Cuyler and Hank Wilson on pop flies‚ but Riggs Stephenson squibs a infield single to tie the game. Charlie Grimm then hits a grand slam. Shanty Hogan answers with a pinch homer in the bottom of the 9th for the Giants 5th solo homer of the day-a NL record for runs on solo homers-but the Cubs hold on for a 8-5 victory. Terry ‚ Jackson‚ Allen‚ and Leach also reach the bleachers.
