On March 18, 1981, star catcher Carlton Fisk leaves the Boston Red Sox to sign a free agent contract with the Chicago White Sox. Fisk batted .289 with 18 home runs and 62 RBIs in his final season for the Red Sox. Fisk’s five-year pact will pay him $2.9 million.
