The New York Mets make one of the best trades in franchise history. The Mets acquire pitcher David Cone from the Royals for catcher Ed Hearn and pitchers Rick Anderson and Mauro “Goose” Gozzo. Cone will emerge as a 20-game winner for the Mets in 1988.
