On November 21, 1934, the New York Yankees purchase Joe DiMaggio from the San Francisco Seals of the Pacific Coast League for between $25,000 and $50,000. Although the 19-year-old outfielder has a torn tendon in his knee, he will become one of the game’s all-time greats.
