On August 21, 1982, Rollie Fingers of the Milwaukee Brewers becomes the first major leaguer to reach 300 career saves. The future Hall of Famer achieves the milestone in preserving a 3-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners. This was not a clean save as Dave Revering hits a 1 out two run home run. Fingers gets Sweet and Dave Henderson for final two outs however to preserve the save.
