Peter Gammons tweets in; Will Giambi go back to New York? Beltrain deal hits a snag; John Henry says Red Sox not expecting a big deal. . . .
Fox Sports addresses whether the pitching strong Mariners will trade commodities like Jason Vargas and Brandon League for bats. One potential partner, the Reds?

Jon Heyman tweets that the Yankees interest in Jeremy Guthrie but the Orioles don’t want to trade with their division foes.

"We like this team, so I don't anticipate many changes at all," Henry said. "I think more so than in years past. Obviously, we could use a strong right-handed bat, but this year that's a difficult commodity to get.
"We gave up a few prospects in spring training, so we would prefer not to do that. It will be driven by what opportunities exist, if any. There have been years where we haven't really done anything, and there have been years we saw an opportunity. It's hard to say."

Both the Giants and Mets are willing to take Beltran’s salary in order to get/keep better prospect.
According to  Joel Sherman of the New York Post that there are six or seven suitors.
Beltran also stated that he would like to stay in the National League to Newsday.

The Blue Jays, being potential buyers, scouted Kevin Slowey Wednesday night tweets Morosi.

The Brewers might have interest in a centerfielder after Carlos Gomez’s injury, tweets Tom Maudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Peter Gammons tweets that the Astros will likely keep Hunter Pence do to his market not being  larger enough for the Astros to deal him.

According to ESPNChicago, they would eat almost all of the 60 mil remaining on his contract.

Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports asked Reds general manager Walt Jocketty what the Reds are looking for. Jocketty responds.

"A hitter," Jocketty said.

A leadoff man? A middle-of-the-order slugger?

"All of the above," Jocketty said, chuckling.

"Ideally, you're always looking for that guy who can mash in the middle of the lineup, put (Brandon) Phillips in a different spot, put (Scott) Rolen in a different spot.

"It's important to have a good leadoff guy. But right now if we could find the right RBI guy, that's what we'll be looking for."
