Bay Bridge Series - halted by earthquake

October 17, 1989 Initially called the "Bay Bridge Series", pitting the Oakland A's against the San Francisco Giants it quickly became known as the Earthquake Series when minutes before Game Three of the World Series, an earthquake hit the San Francisco Bay area. The game is postponed and the Series will only resume 11 days later. The A's would thoroughly dominate the Giants in the series sweeping them in 4 games. "We ran into a buzz saw," Giants first baseman and NLCS Most Valuable Player Will Clark said of Series MVP Dave Stewart's pitching.
