Blue Jay Dustin McGowan Exits With Foot Injury

"Dustin McGowan's return to the Blue Jays' starting rotation took another hit Sunday after he injured his right foot while pitching in a minor-league game.

McGowan, who missed two full seasons with multiple shoulder injuries and made his first big-league start in more than three years last September, was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis – an inflammation of the sole – on his push-off foot. He is currently listed as day-to-day.

The injury throws into further doubt who might fill the back end of the team's rotation.

Speaking to reporters, Blue Jays' general manager Alex Anthopoulos played down the injury to the team's projected fifth starter, calling it "a blip.""
