Blue Jays should target Bell, most likely not interested in Darvish

Bob Elliott of the Toronto Sun believes that the Blue Jays should sign Heath Bell.  “The Blue Jays have the money, their best option is Heath Bell,” said one evaluator familiar with the closing landscape.

“I don’t care if he is three years older than Ryan Madson, money shouldn’t be a problem,” he said. “Toronto was on Jonathan Paplebon before the Philadelphia Phillies signed Jonathan Paplebon.”

Elliot also reports that "Jays president Paul Beeston is not a fan of the current posting system" and doesn't see them signing Yu Darvish.

In other pitching rumors, Elliot states that the Yankees are interested in Kyle Drabek.  Drabek, 23, was the center of the Roy Halladay deal but had an off year in 2011.  In 15 starts in Triple A, Drabek had a 7.44 ERA and in 14 starts for Toronto he had a 6.06 ERA.

The Yankees could use a young pitcher like Drabek but it would be interesting to see the division rivals cooperate in a trade.  The most appealing trade chips that the Yankees have are young catchers but the Blue Jays have Travis d'Arnaud who they also acquired in the Halladay deal. Maybe the Jays could have interest in Montero as a 1B/DH/C.
