Cubs' Marmol Says He's OK After Hand Cramp

"The Cubs survived a major scare Tuesday, maybe. Closer Carlos Marmol left a game against the Rangers after feeling what he said was "like a cramp" in his right hand. The pain left almost immediately but he went for a precautionary MRI.

"It was something he said he had before and it only happens in spring training," manager Dale Sveum said. "He wasn't too worried. He wanted to stay in."

Marmol, had just retired the first two batters in the seventh inning and had hit Chris Robinson with a pitch. It was his third hit batter in 51/3 innings. Then, on the third pitch to Mike Olt, Marmol shook his hand."
