Danks Likely Opening-Day Starter

"Manager Robin Ventura said Tuesday left-hander John Danks likely will start for the White Sox on opening day April 6 against the Rangers in Texas.

"Right now, he is going to be that guy," Ventura said after a 6-2 exhibition loss to the Angels. "I like him as that guy right now. I'm not making it official. It could schedule out that way."

This would be the first opening-day assignment for Danks, 26, who already has turned down ticket requests from friends from his Round Rock, Texas-area home.

Danks is 54-56 lifetime and signed a five-year, $65 million contract last December."
