Here is the scoring line for Roger Clemens who made his first professional baseball start in five years tonight for the Sugar Land Skeeters against the Bridgeport Bluefish:
3-1/3 IP, 1H, 0 ER, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K
Clemens struck out the first batter of the game, former Rays and Red Sox outfielder Joey Gathright, swinging on the seventh pitch of the at-bat. Prentice Redman struck out looking two batters later to finish a perfect 1-2-3 inning. Overall, Clemens threw 37 pitches, 24 for strikes, and faced eleven batters. His fastball topped out a 88-mph. Said Clemens in an interview with ESPN following his outing, “I think it went great.”
It seems a safe bet that Clemens will make another start sometime next week. With scouts from the Astros, Royals and Orioles believed to be in attendance at the game, the real question is for whom will Clemens be pitching.
