Joe Nathan could be a bigger signing than as just a bargain closer.

This had a domino effect.  Nathan becomes the Rangers closer, moving Feliz to the rotation, and Jeff Wilson of the Star Telegram reports that moving Feliz to the rotation takes the Rangers out of the C.J. Wilson sweepstakes.

This could be a blessing for the Rangers. Many people believe that Wilson will be overpaid because he's the best starting pitcher in a weak free agent class. John Lackey, anyone?

The Rangers are paying $14.5M total for two years of Nathan, Wilson will be close to $20M per season, possibly a $100M dollar contract.  Jon Heyman of SI in his free agent predictor suggests that Wilson will get 5 years for $80 million.

This leaves the Rangers with only a need at first base (maybe outfield) and saving all of this money on not chasing Wilson, they could go after a power hitting free agent.
