Player Profile
Manny Machado
Shortstop, Third Baseman
6' 3" 185 lbs.

20 years old

Since the day he was drafted 3rd overall in 2010, I have been a fan of Orioles top prospect Manny Machado. Roughly one year ago I scouted him intensely as he made his way through the minor leagues. What I saw was a player that showed above average power and good speed that played a premium defensive position. Not only do I own Machado in a keeper league of mine, I also picked him up in every other league I'm in this season. I see Alex Rodriguez type comparisons from the 20 year old infielder and although he is currently holding down the hot corner, an eventual move back to his natural position of shortstop is in the near future. I see Machado as the next big thing in the city of Baltimore. #MachadoMania. Now I'm going to break down Machado's minor league numbers to another "Potential Star."

- Keep in mind Player A also spent time in Triple A before being called up early in 2012. Machado got called up straight from Double A (just like Giancarlo Stanton).

"Unknown Player A" is none other than Bryce Harper. Now that you know how Machado's minor league stats compare to "the second coming of Ken Griffey Jr." you will have a little more incentive to go out and pick him up or trade for him in your keeper leagues. Machado is on fire to start his career having hit 3 home runs in his first 13 at bats and driving in 7 runs. If he continues at a pace or something similar at season's end, I may move him ahead of Bryce Harper in my Top 250 Keeper Rankingsentering next year.#MachadoMania
