Maddon Named AL Manager of the Year

Rays manager Joe Maddon has been voted Sporting News' 2011 American League Manager of the Year.  It's the second time (2008) that Maddon has won the award.

Maddon led the Rays winning the wild card in a exciting fonal week of baseball.  Despite starting 0-6, Maddon led the Rays to a 91-71 record.

"We are the best 0-6 team in the history of Major League Baseball," Maddon said after his team was eliminated in the ALDS. "It was a huge success this year, and anybody that wants to argue otherwise, please come by. I'd be happy to engage in that discussion."
