Marlins President declares that Hanley Ramirez is the starting shortstop

Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports that Marlins president, David Samson, will increase payroll in 2012 and that Hanley Ramirez is the starting shortstop.

"They are moving into their new ballpark in 2012, and the expectations for the franchise are high. Payroll also is going up from the $58 million spent in 2011.

The Marlins aren't saying what their payroll will be in 2012, but it is believed to be in the $85 million range." - MLB.com

Samson joked that if they signed a first baseman that wanted to play shortstop, they'd have the conversation.  Realistically the only way that Ramirez will move to a different position is if the Marlins sign Reyes and I see that as very likely.
