Troy E. Renck of the Denver Post reports that Rockies' pitcher Juan Nicasio is making remarkable progress in his return from a broken neck, increasing the possibility that he will resume his major league career next season.

Nicasio, who fractured his C-1 vertebrae on Aug. 5 after being struck by a line drive, has begun throwing off a mound for the first time since his injury.

"It's a miracle. It really is," general manager Dan O'Dowd told The Denver Post today. "I saw him in Arizona (at the Rockies' spring training facility) working out in the weight room, running and pitching. He looked just like any other player getting ready for the season." - Denver Post
