Polanco Glad Finger Injury Shouldn't Sideline Him Long

"The finger is still purple, bruised from top to bottom. It's swollen, but not badly. Given the options, this is the best-case scenario.

Placido Polanco won't be in the lineup for the next few days, but an X-ray Saturday showed only a mild sprain of his left ring finger.

"It's a little stiff today, a little swelling," Polanco said Sunday morning.

"But it's just day-to-day. It's not a big thing."

That's good news for a team already missing half its infield.

Ryan Howard was in the clubhouse Sunday, still in his protective boot. Chase Utley said Saturday he hoped to get into a game within the next week, but he didn't take grounders with the team Sunday morning."
