Robertson: I'll Be Ready To Go In Yankees' Opener

"First the walking boot was removed. Next the crutches went away. Then David Robertson played catch.

Finally, the best eighth-inning reliever in baseball produced words that were ear candy to the Yankees.

"I will easily be ready for Opening Day,'' Robertson said last night at George M. Steinbrenner Field, where the Yankees hosted the Astros. "As long as I have no setbacks.''

Hearing Robertson say Opening Day is a reality is a long way from what the Yankees were thinking last Thursday.

After hurting his right foot on Wednesday night while falling down stairs at his home in the process of carrying empty boxes, Robertson was taken for X-rays and an MRI exam the next morning. Something on the MRI concerned the Yankees, who later in the same day sent Robertson for a weight-bearing X-ray and a CAT scan."
