Ryan Howard no closer to return

"It's been a week since Ryan Howard left camp to have a second procedure on his surgically repaired Achilles' tendon, and he doesn't appear any closer to returning to the field.

Howard is wearing a walking boot and still fighting an infection that developed near the site of the initial surgery, and Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said there remains no timetable for the first baseman to get back on the field.

Howard was taking grounders, batting practice and doing light running during the first week of camp, but a wound opened on his ankle and became infected. Dr. Mark Myerson, who performed the initial surgery, met with Howard on Feb. 27 to remove sutures used in the Achilles' repair and stitch the new wound."
