"Chase Utley isn't retiring, and he isn't planning to miss the season. There will be no surgery, no grand send-off, no final farewells.

The reports of Utley's demise, he said, have been greatly exaggerated.

The 33-year-old second baseman with two creaky knees and zero spring-training at-bats spent 13 minutes in front of cameras Sunday hoping to dispel rampant speculation about the severity of his injury and clarify his prognosis moving forward, though plenty of questions remain."
