Yankees' pitcher Michael Pineda busted: DUI gives team new problems

As the end of the major league baseball season fast approaches, the Yankees look poised for another deep run into the playoffs. The starting rotation has been under some scrutiny for their inconsistencies, especially at the backend of the rotation which has been a hot topic for the media in New York.

Unfortunately, one of their pitchers made headlines on Tuesday for all the wrong reasons.

Michael Pineda, who has not pitched this season due to injury, was arrested for DUI in Tampa early Monday morning. According to the police report, Pineda‘s blood alcohol level was .128. The legal limit in Florida is .08.

The police report also explained that Pineda was driving with no headlights while traveling “at a high rate of speed.” The officer who wrote the report also added that Pineda “appeared to be intoxicated” commenting on his bloodshot and watery eyes.

Manager Joe Girardi declined to comment while general manager Brian Cashman said “no comment at this time” through an email to the New York Daily News.
