Bob Nutting Biography by The Baseball Page

Robert Nutting

    * School Williams College

    * Born March 29, 1962 in Wheeling, WV USA

Bob Nutting is the son of Ogden Nutting, who was part of the ownership group led by Kevin McClatchy that purchased the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1996. Bob had been president and CEO of Ogden Newspapers and Nutting Newspapers since 1990, managing his family's media empire. Bob later became chairman of the board of directors of the Pirates and in 2007, a request was put in for Nutting to replace McClatchy as the principal owner of the Pirates. The Nutting family already had a majority share and had been making decisions. When Bob became the public spokesman, it was his first appearance ever before the Pittsburgh media, which had often criticized him for being behind a profits-over-performance mindset. Nutting denied such a philosophy in his first media appearance.
