Just Missed the Cut: Reggie Smith ... A powerful switch-hitting slugger, Smith was a fast baserunner and an excellent center fielder for the Red Sox in the 1960s and early 1970s. He was the first African American star on the Red Sox, and enjoyed fine seasons with St. Louis and Los Angeles after he was dealt from Boston.
