Just Missed the Cut: Bobby
Veach ... Veach was one of the best outfielders in baseball in the
1910s, forming a stellar trio with Hall of Fame teammates Ty Cobb and Sam
Crawford. Veach had a fine arm, was a solid baserunner, and hit for a good
average. But his real talent was driving in runs. He plated as many as 100
runs six times, and 90 or more two other times. He was a .310 career
hitter.
