Munson ... Because of his tragic death in a plane crash, no one can be
sure of what the rest of Munson's career would have been like, but he
seemed headed toward Hall of Fame status. The 1976 American League MVP,
Munson was a rock behind the plate, the winner of three Gold Gloves, he
was the heart of the Yankees in the 1970s. A clutch performer, he hit .357
with 22 RBI in 30 post-season games.
