Factoids
On June 23, 1979, Oakland center fielder Tony Armas recorded two putouts in a strange 5-8-5-8 triple play against the Rangers. Armas crept in from center and covered second base after a popout to third, catching two runners (Oscar Gamble and Billy Sample) off-base.
Scouting Report
"He is a good breaking ball hitter against lefties if the ball is from the belt to the shoulders, but usually sees those pitches when pitchers are trying to set him up… does not hit to the opposite field… a bit overanxious at times and will swing at the first pitch… Played center and lost nothing off of his arm. Runners do not run on him." — from the 1984 Scouting Report
