Notes
On the last day of the 1919 season, Barnes hurled the first game of a doubleheader at the Polo Grounds against the Phillies. The game lasted just 51 minutes, as the Giants won 6-1, to give Barnes his 25th victory. Apparently, the teams were anxious to make a quick day of it, and in the bottom of the ninth, Phillies' shortstop Dave Bancroft made the last out in what was "the only part of the game in which real effort was lacking." The time of the game is still a major league record.
