Factoids
Left-handed pitcher Ron Bryant was eccentric and superstitious. He placed a stuffed bear named "Bear Bryant" in his locker in 1972, and credited it with helping him win 14 games that season. The next year, "Bear Bryant" was once again tucked safely in his locker and Bryant took to placing a stick of gum in his back pocket for each victory as the season wore on. He eventually had 24 sticks of gum back there.
