John Castino

As a third baseman, John Castino was the American League Rookie of the Year for the Minnesota Twins. He had an even better season his freshman campaign, batting .302 with improved power at the plate. Unfortunately, his promising career was ended prematurely due to chronic back problems. After a few surgeries, including spinal fusion in 1981, he was placed in traction in 1984, and never played again. His six-year career produced a .278 average and 41 home runs.
