Luis Castro
According to noted historian Jules Tygiel, Luis Castro was long believed to have been the first Latino to play in the major leagues in the 20th century. Subsequent research, according to Tygiel, indicates that Castro was actually born in New York City. Castro for the Philadelphia Athletics under Connie Mack in 1902, but after committing 14 errors in 36 games at second base, was never asked back.
