Chris Chambliss

A quiet and classy ballplayer, Chris Chambliss hit a very loud home run for the Yankees in the 1976 American League Playoffs. In the bottom of the ninth inning of Game Five against the Royals, Chambliss launched a shot into the right field seats to win the game and the pennant. In a solid, but overshadowed 17-year career, the big first baseman hit 185 homers and drove in nearly 1,000 runs. After his career, he coached at the big league level, managed in the minors, and pursued his dream of managing in the majors.
