Tommy Corcoran

Spanning two eras, the barehanded play of the 1890s, and the Deadball Era, shortstop Tommy Corcoran was a fiesty team leader for Brooklyn and later, Cincinnati. One of the finest players ever born in Connecticut, "Corky" was a fan favorite, though never a favorite of umpires, who he constantly baited. Ironically, after his 18-year career, Corcoran enjoyed a career as an umpire in professional baseball.
