Joe Delahanty
One of five brothers who all played in the major leagues, diminutive Joe Delahanty was the middle child. An outfielder, Joe struggled for several years to reach the big leagues before getting his chance with the St. Louis Cardinals at the age of 31, in 1907. A natural hitter, Joe played with brothers Jim and Tom in the minors and frequently outhit them. In July of 1909, his final big league season, Joe slapped a liner off the pitching hand of Christy Mathewson. The shot forced Matty from the game, but the star pitcher was back in a week.
