Transactions
When the Yankees acquired Dugan on July 23, 1922, for the stretch drive, the St. Louis Browns, against whom the Yanks were battling for the pennant, objected. According to SABR member Steve Steinberg, Browns' officials, pressured by fan outcry over the deal (Dugan was considered one of the best third basemen in the league at the time), made a complaint to the league office. Eventually, the June 15 non-waiver trade deadline was imposed. Later, it was pushed back to July 31.
