Post-Season Notes
According to baseball historian Wayne McElreavy, the New York Times of September 29, 1922, ran an article discussing a possible tie for the pennant between Fohl's Browns and the Yankees:

"If the remote possibility of a tie . . . the two teams would have to play a series of three games to decide the American League championship. In accordance with the rules, these three contests would have to be played in neutral American League cities. The contests would probably be played in Boston, Chicago and Philadelphia."

Obviously this never occurred, but it's interesting to note that as early as 1922, the American League seemed to have a plan in place that involved not a one-game pennant playoff (as would be played in 1948), but a three-game series in a nuetral setting.
