Get the Married Men off the Infield
Frankie Frisch used to like to tell the story of when Fournier was playing first base and a rookie pitcher asked him how to pitch to Rogers Hornsby. "Just feed him indise pitches," Fournier told the young hurler. The kid followed orders and Hornsby smoked a ball down the left field line that almost killed the third baseman. The rookie trotted over to Fournier and said "I thought you said inside pitches were his weakness?" Fournier grunted "I said nothing of the kind. I just didn't want him hitting outside pitches on a line toward me. After all, I'm a married man with a family."
