Mike Gazella

A utility infielder for the New York Yankees, Mike Gazella protested when he was awarded just a one-quarter World Series share by his teammates in 1926. Having spent nearly the entire season with the team, playing in 66 games and batting .232, Gazella demanded "a full share or nothing." His appeal reached the desk of Commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis, who ordered the Yankees to give Gazella a full share, which amounted to $3,417.75. There were apparently no hard feelings between Gazella and the team: he served as utility infielder for the club the next two years, receiving World Series shares each season.
