Jack Glasscock
A superstitious man, Jack Glasscock played almost his entire career with pebbles in the pockets of his uniform. If there was any luck in the pebbles, Glasscock benefitted from it. The shortstop played 17 seasons in the big leagues and hit .300 five times. In an era when the diamond was riddled with pebbles and rocks and uneven terrain, leading to many errors, Glasscock was one of the best defensive shortstops in baseball despite playing without a glove.
