Juan Gonzalez
Just a few years after signing a contract with the Texas Rangers at the age of 16 out of Puerto Rico, Juan Gonzalez paid dividends as an RBI-machine from the cleanup spot. The powerful right-handed batter won a pair of Most Valuable Player Awards and helped the Rangers to three division titles, and the first post-season appearances in franchise history.

Post-Season Notes
In his first post-season game - Game One of the 1996 AL Division Series - Gonzalez belted a three-run, go-ahead homer against the Yankees, in a game Texas eventually won. The next night he hit a homer to stake the Rangers to an early lead, and added a three-run shot to give the Rangers a 4-1 lead. The Rangers lost in 12 innings. In Game Three, he tied the game with a solo blast, but the Yankees won 3-2, scoring two runs in the ninth. In Game Four, he went deep again, but the Rangers lost the game and the series. Gonzalez's five homers in the four-game series were an LDS record.
