Tim Hudson
Even though he wasn't called up to the big leagues until June, Tim Hudson led the A's in strikeouts in his rookie season in 1999, going 11-2. He built on that success, winning 20 games in his first full season, and 18 the next season. With teammates Mark Mulder and Barry Zito, he formed a fearsome threesome at the top of Oakland's rotation, helping the club to the post-season four times. Through his first seven seasons, he had never posted a losing record.
Factoids
Over his first 25 decisions in the majors, Tim Hudson was 21-4. He was just the fifth pitcher to win 21 of his first 25 games in the big leagues, joining King Cole, Whitey Ford, Vida Blue, and Juan Guzman.
