Charlie Jamieson
Two Hall of Famers - Clark Griffith and Connie Mack - failed to give Charlie Jamieson a chance, and the former pitcher made them pay for their lack of confidence in his ability. Jamieson was traded by Mack to the Indians in spring training in 1919, and the swap proved to be one of the best in Cleveland's history. A hard-hitting little leadoff man, Jamieson manned left field and perched atop the Tribe lineup for more than 1a decade, batting .300 ten times on his way to a .303 lifetime mark. The left-handed batter topped 200 hits twice, and finished third behind Walter Johnson and Eddie Collins in the 1924 American League Most Valuable Player voting. In the field, he dazzled Cleveland faithful at League Park with his diving catches and amazing throws from deep in the outfield.

Description
Teammate Bill Wambsganss said of Jamieson: "A versatile fellow, everything that he tried his hand at, [he] could do well. When he bowled he could hit 200, when he played pool he could run 15 from the spot. He was a good basketball player, being a fairly good shot and a speedy floorman. He took to water like a duck. At cards he somehow always held the winning hands, and on hunting expedition he'd be sure to bring in the first buck. Naturally, a fellow like that, to whom everything came easy, would be happy-go-lucky and full of pep. At times, he'd be carried away by his enthusiasm, so that he was often referred to by his intimates as the 'Cuckoo'".
