Vic Janowicz
In the 1949 Rose Bowl, Ohio State halfback Vic Janowicz played defensive back and helped the Buckeyes defeat California, 17-14. The next season he won the Heisman Trophy, becoming the third junior to earn the award. After his college football career, Janowicz signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates and played parts of two seasons with the Bucs. He had good power and raw speed, but he didn't have a defensive position and lacked the ability to hit major league pitching. He signed with the Washington Redskins in 1954 and played three seasons in the NFL. When he was injured in an automobile accident in 1956, his career was over.
