Ed Konetchy
In his day, the Deadball Era, "Big Ed" Konetchy was a respected first baseman, who played for five different National League teams in a 15-year career. The strong-armed Wisconsin-native swung a heavy bat, which often produced extra-base hits. He hit as many as a dozen triples in a season ten times, and led the league at various times in doubles, extra-base hits and total bases. In 1920 with Brooklyn, Konetchy finally got into the World Series, and hit a triple, though he struggled as the Dodgers lost. When he retired he had more than 2,000 hits, and close to 1,000 runs and RBI.
