Nicknames
Buddy

Lewis debuted in the big leagues before the other Buddy Lewis, who starred for the Senators and was much more well-known, and succesful. The other Lewis didn't get his nickname from this Buddy Lewis (he got it from his friendship with teammate Buddy Myer), and we're not sure how this Buddy got the nickname.

Notes
Serving as a scout for the Cardinals, Lewis burned himself through his own negligence in September of 1948. While smoking in bed in his hotel room in Birmingham, Alabama, Lewis fell asleep, setting the bed on fire. He suffered burns to the left side of his body and was also fined $25 for the mishap.
