Danny Lynch

Seven games was all Danny Lynch got in the big leagues, but he made a great first impression. In his debut he slugged a home run off Warren Spahn and made two great plays at second base to rob opposing batters of base hits. But in spite of his one glorious week in the majors with the Cubs, Lynch was unable to make the team the following spring. He bounced around briefly in the minor leagues before returning to his native Texas to practice law.

Quotes About Lynch
"The kid has a great pair of wrists. He has a lot of power, can hit a long ball and is not easily fooled. In the field he has all the actions of a good glove man. He moves equally well to left or right, can play either shortstop or second base, and doesn't look bad at third. We are going to give him a big look next spring." — Cubs manager Charlie Grimm, in September of 1948
