Harry McCormick

Right-hander Harry McCormick was one of the best pitchers to come out of upstate New York in the 1870s. Short and slight, he relied on breaking pitches rather than velocity. He was credited with one of the toughest curves, a high, looping pitch that rarely came in below the belt of the batter. He hurled four seasons in the professional leagues, but many more in and around Syracuse before hie untimely death at the age of 33.
