Lindy McDaniel

Lindy McDaniel never really liked being a starting pitcher, and once he was relegated to the bullpen, he settled in to one of the most productive careers ever by a reliever. The tall right-hander from Oklahoma pitched in nearly 1,000 games in a 21-year career. Though he never pitched for a pennant winner, he was invaluable, and in 1960 he finished tied for third in Cy Young balloting and fifth in MVP balloting. His 119 relief wins were second to Hoyt Wilhelm at the time of his retirement in 1975.

Quotes From McDaniel
"For three innings I can really cut loose. I can stay keyed up. I never liked anticipating starts. It always made me nervous."
